Jeremy Haslam, the originator of ARTISAN WEBDESIGN, brings to this client group both a familiarity with archaeological methodology and practice, and an interest in the conservation of both the natural and historic environment, as well a his long experience as a designer and photographer. He is therefore particularly well equipped to find individual web-based solutions to the presentation needs of this group of clients which best reflect their goals - whether as private contractors or as knowledge-based public bodies.

Specialised requirements, such as the presentation of Sites and Monuments Records databases on the web, can also be met.

Completed sites include the site of The Society for Post-Medieval Archaeology, a site for Pre-Construct Archaeology, photographs for the PotWeb site of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and others at various stages of completion.

Jeremy Haslam has spent some years as a practising field archaeologist, and as an archaeological lecturer and writer. He has excavated on many sites in the UK, on the Continent and in Africa. His field of interest lies in the origins of early medieval towns, and in the development of early and later medieval industries such as iron smelting, glass-making and pottery-making.

Current research includes an analysis of the strategies and tactics that King Alfred deployed against the Vikings in the 9th century. A report on his extensive excavations on the late Saxon defences of Cricklade, Wiltshire, is published as a web-site based presentation for Internet Archaeology. He is also currently photographing the 2000-year range of ceramics from the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and scanning and preparing images for the PotWeb web site.
